This week on Small Talk Big Day, Amber, from Wedding Paper Divas, offers easy tips for wedding invitation wording. Two of Party Idea Pros most frequently asked questions is how to address wedding invitations and how much information to actually include on the invitation itself. Sometimes it is just as important to know what not to include especially if it might be a major wedding faux pas. Here are some great tips on what not to say to your guests:
- Gift Registry Information – It is totally acceptable to hope your guests send you gifts. However, your wedding invitations are not the place to talk about present requests. Leave that type of detailed information to your Wedding Website instead! This frees up more room for specific information about the venue and wedding date.
- NO Kids allowed – It’s not uncommon for the bride and groom to prefer that children don’t attend the Big Day. Instead of telling parents to just leave the children at home, it is much more polite to specifically address the invite with who can come to the wedding! Be precise on your invitation, and only list names of the individuals allowed to attend. We promise, following this little rule will save you untold headaches!
- Entree Selections – Please leave any talk about food to the response cards. If you prefer to have a dry wedding, you do not need to list that on your wedding invitation! Your Wedding Website is the perfect place to share any fun, extra information for your guests.

Choose a date and let the planning begin by picking out your wedding invitations and the rest of your wedding suite. You can stick with traditional invitations designed with all loving couples in mind or choose an invitation specifically designed for same sex couples. Remember the invitation you choose will set the tone for your entire celebration so take the time to thoughtfully consider how you want to create the beautiful, meaningful, festive celebration you and your partner have always dreamed of hosting.
