In secular society, January 1st is the official start of the new year but for Jewish people world wide, Rosh Hashana marks the new year and new beginnings. For me, Rosh Hashana is one of my very favorite Jewish holidays. It is generally celebrated in September or early October (I can’t give you an exact date since the Hebrew lunar calendar is only 354 days verses 365 days in the solar calendar so the days don’t line up the same every year. For example, Rosh Hashana 2014 begins on the evening of September 24th whereas next year the holiday starts on the evening of September 13, 2015.) and more or less coincides with the onset of a new school year. Growing up, when we went back to school shopping we also picked up a new Fall outfit for the High Holidays. To this day I buy a school calendar (September – September) rather than the traditional January to January calendar – it is more organic, it is more intuitive. Continue Reading →

The Classic Tuxedo – Men’s Formal Wedding Attire
After hours spent scoping out every tuxedo on the market, I finally chose a designer tuxedo I thought would be perfect for our wedding. I immediately called my husband to have him pass on the details to his dad (his best man), his brothers, and the other groomsmen. In my very own bridezilla moment I completely lost it when my now husband called and said that my tuxedo choice was a “no go” – he informed me that his dad explained that the men in his family do not get married in a rented tuxedo. At the time, I thought the response was “uppity” and did not see the need for my husband or his groomsmen to own their own tuxes. 30 years later, as my husband dons his wedding tux for the hundredth time, I must admit I was wrong. Every single time he puts on that very same tuxedo he wore to our wedding it brings me back to that very special day and reminds me of just how much I loved him that day and every day since. Halloween Printable Games
Print and Play!
What could be easier? Are you like us — we plan every detail of our parties – the invitations, the party decor, the party favors, the food, and never think about planning activities absolutely convinced that our guests are interesting and engaging individuals and can easily entertain themselves. (except for children’s parties where we plan and schedule every minute). And then once in a while, we either have a sneaking suspicion a day or so in advance or are caught completely off guard right then and there and realize things aren’t going so well. We have had political conversations go ballistic and strident parenting advice get a bit overbearing. There is not much to do about it except quickly change the conversation. That’s where these Halloween printable games come in extraordinarily handy. In just a few minutes, we can change the course of the evening. Don’t get caught in a scary spot. Plan ahead this Halloween by having a stack of pre-printed games ready at a moments notice. Have a fun-filled Halloween and party hearty!
One more thought … many of these print and play games work great in a classroom. Some are even customizable so you can tailor them to your lesson or set them aside for your classroom Halloween celebration.
