So cool – we immediately went to looked up our dads’ service enlistment records and there they were.  Although initially we were unsure abut how this all might practically relate to planning your Memorial Day party as we were using the site we had one of those aha moments – we think access to these military records could actually be integrated into your celebration to add meaning and interest.  We envision the family gathered around the computer oohing and aahing as you discover all sorts of ancestral history.  In fact, if at all possible we recommend  connecting your computer to your television (this might be the excuse you needed to invest in that long coveted Apple TV or other wireless computer to tv content streaming device) so searching your family history becomes an extended family bonding activity.

Memorial Day Party Decor Ideas

Memorial Day is just around the corner but there is still plenty of time to order a few extras to add a festive touch to your party and you don’t need to spend a fortune to do so.  We love the little mason jar sippers with red and blue striped straws.  Glass bowls filled with red, white and blue jelly belly and m & m candies are fun, easy and inexpensive.  Good looking paper plates and napkins are always essential.  Throw a few small vases filled with swirl pops and patriotic pretzels around the room intermixed with this simple fresh flower arrangement (ok – we admit, no matter how great our decor, it never seems quite complete unless we have at least one vase of fresh flowers).
