Despite cocky assertions of dominance and armchair pundit predictions, nobody really knows who will be playing in Super Bowl XLVIII. Nonetheless, it is none to early to begin planning your Super Bowl 2014 viewing party. Mark your calendars and send out these fabulous Super Bowl Invitations today.
After your invitations go out, you have just 2 weeks to plan the rest of your Super Bowl viewing party! Your first step will be to decide whether you want your party to be a neutral zone or cater to the teams' fan bases. You can choose traditional football party decor or go with the team colors, banners, flags, and decorations.
We also recommend you plan on at least a few football party games just in case there is a lull in the conversation or the football game is a blowout. If you are watching a game on television, let your guests make the calls — provide individual penalty flags – just picture a room full of people tossing their flags all at once! Madden Football 2013 is always good for hours of football fun. For the young at heart, pinatas are a great way to end any party. Years ago we met the fellow who created Fiki finger Football and have been obsessed ever since! And printable games are quick, economical, and easy to execute party fillers.
Full of glitz, glamour, ornate details, and a true style all its own – what girl wouldn't want “The Great Gatsby” look? Whether you are planning a casual Gatsby themed garden party, fabulous, glamorous cocktail evening, or even attending a Great Gatsby costume viewing party, there are plenty of ways to add a flapper-esque flair to any look with the 1920s fashion inspired dresses and accessories over at ModCloth.
- Details, details, details. Epaulets, pearls, rhinestones, and sequins were highly used during this time period to add glitz to an evening outfit.
- Slender silhouettes. While you could still see a full skirt, long hemline, and high neck, the robe de style dress featuring a drop waist and straight cut was the most popular style.
- Haute headpieces. To top off the entire look, add a whimsical & decadent headpiece from ModCloth. You can even DIY a fabulous headband with ribbon, feathers, and gemstones!

This is the first of a series of posts getting ready for the release of The Great Gatsby movie on May 10th. We have already been invited to a Great Gatsby Movie Viewing Costume Party. So fun! A close friend and F. Scott Fitzgerald fanatic has reserved an entire theater for his friends and family to view the Warner Bros. Pictures Baz Luhrmann big screen adaptation of the The Great Gatsby. Not surprisingly, costumes are required and I am already getting flack from my husband even when I suggested he simply wear a suit and hat. After much conjoling, I have finally persuaded him to don a dapper classic tuxedo like the one worn by Leonardo DiCaprio in the poster. Done!
The harder problem is what should I wear? So many options but I particularly love the very reasonably priced Anna-Kaci flapper dresses on Amazon. To complete the outfits order a coordinating boa, Long Satin Gloves, a Costume Cigarette Holder, a flapper wig or headband or hat, and flapper beads / pearls.
It is not too late to still plan an Election Night Party. Four years ago, we failed to plan ahead but when we got to the polls we ran into friends and invited them over to watch the election results and to enjoy a spur of the moment dinner together. An evening of fabulous food it was not but we had the best time despite being on opposite sides of the political spectrum.
This year we are planning ahead – even sending out formal invitations. We haven't yet decided what to serve but we are definitely serving drinks in ball mason jars with red & white stripe retro paper straws and will without a doubt be once again be pulling out our clear glass plates to create fabulous custom election partyware with my memories suite (be sure to use code STMMMS76583 to get $10.00 off the purchase price!).
