Buy a Thumbprint Necklace & Support a Children's Shelter in Nepal

In case you have not yet noticed, we have started a new feature in our sidebar called PIP's Picks. It is in PIP's Picks we  try to highlight a deal each day that tickles our fancy. It may be something small like a darling host{ess} gift or something as fabulous as the latest and greatest Gucci find. Today's pick, a simple thumbprint necklace, although only available for a limited time or until supplies sell out, is both fabulous and meaningful. And thus it is deserving of a devoted post.

One of our new favorite merchants, Jane.com, has partnered with the Elizabeth Smart Foundation to help survivors at Raksha (a safe haven for children and young adults rescued from predatory crimes) to heal, move on, and thrive. As part of the collaboration, Jane is selling a fabulous #StrongLikeYou Raksha Necklace. Each necklace is stamped with the thumbprint of a child from Raksha, so you can hold your child's story close to your heart. Additionally, you will, receive an insert telling you a little more about your child. Plus, and here is the best part, 100% of all proceeds from the sale of the thumbprint necklace go directly to Raksha children’s shelter as part of Jane's #StrongLikeYou initiative. “Give Back” Holiday Party Craft Activity >> No Sew Blankets

Today's mom's have little trouble creating beautiful and festive children's birthday party celebrations but sometimes between our own crazy busy schedules and the quest to throw the this year's most talked about event, we forget to add the little things that make the day especially meaningful. We think it is important for kids to know how much we love them but equally important for them to understand they are not the center of the universe. Children need to learn and develop  a healthy sense of self which includes compassion and caring of others. What better day to teach this lesson than on the very day they are lavished with gifts. Teach by example – integrate a “Give back” craft activity into your child's birthday party in addition the the usual birthday fun and party games.

And with the holiday spirit upon us, why wait for your child's next birthday party. This “Give Back” craft activity would be a wonderful addition to any classroom holiday party and equally brilliant to incorporate into your own kid-friendly holiday celebrations. Continue Reading →

Kids Community Service Activity – Clip Coupons for Coupons Help!

Coupons Help Fight Hunger

We are so excited to introduce our visitors to Coupons Help, a non-profit organization started by a 10 year old thoughtful, inspired, creative angel.  Basically, Chloe was at a family dinner when a friend of her father's mentioned that the food pantry he worked with could use coupons in addition to food to help those in need purchase food and essentials. Chloe began collecting coupons from the Sunday paper that would have otherwise been thrown away and mailed them to the shelter. It made a difference and so she thought she would build a website and try to collect coupons from people all over the world, especially kids like her. Chloe's goal is to get 3,000 coupons by the end of year!  We are here to support her in her efforts.

Think Pink. Think Poppin.

Think Pink. Think Poppin. We are loving poppin's fabulous pink office, tech and kitchen products especially since now through October 31st, 10% of all sales will be donated to the Young Survival Coalition for Breast Cancer Awareness.  We find Poppin's contemporary, colorful approach to home and office both refreshing and invigorating.

Although all pink might be just a little over the top except maybe for a girls night out party, it sure beats boring black.  We like pretty.  We like handsome.  poppin does both well!

Like many of you, we spend an inordinate amount of time in our office, often more waking hours than we do at home.  We spend our days surrounded by paper clips and staplers, tape dispensers and sticky notes, why shouldn't they meet the same attractiveness threshold as our bathroom tissue dispensers and remote control holders.  Brighten up your days by brightening your office with smile inducing styling and pops of color.  Get poppin!

Party Hearty!

Take the Dare, Show you Care

For years, I have admired the thoughtfulness  of my good friend Carolyn and my great Aunt Libby – two amazing people who, year in and year out, always send the perfect card for every single occasion.  I could never figure out how they managed to keep it all organized, and I am a pretty organized person.  So starting today  I personally have signed up for Tiny Prints new greeting card store free trial.  Now I just need to get myself organized enough to enter all my family and friends' birthdays and anniversaries  into Tiny Prints calendar reminder feature!

I challenge all of you to do the same.  In fact, if you do Take the Dare, Show you Care Challenge and sign up for Tiny Prints new greeting card store free trial, leave a comment.  We would love to hear your story but a simple “I did it” is great, too.

Marcia's Story

I like to think of myself as a thoughtful person but if I am honest with myself, much of my thoughtfulness is just that … thinking about being thoughtful.  Just in the last few months, both my friends Vicki and Karen lost their family dogs.  They were heart broken and I knew it.  For weeks I thought about sending a card but never seemed to get around to buying one.  Eventually too much time passed.  Yet another instance of thoughtfulness without thoughtful action.

Woulda Coulda Shoulda

All I woulda needed to do was sign on toTiny Prints sympathy card selection and with a simple click of a button coulda ordered and mailed both Vicki and Karen one of these perfect cards designed to offer comfort and to help celebrate the life of their much-loved companion.  My new resolution — no more shoulda‘s!
