Polka dots, Polka dots everywhere! Polka dots are definitely in style! From polka dot invitations to retro polka dot straws to polka dot party decorations to polka dot apparel. Use dots as the main theme for your next celebration or just incorporate a few here and there for a stylish pop of color and party pizazz. We like polka dots for birthday parties, bridal and baby showers, Bat Mitzvah and Sweet Sixteen/ Quinceanera celebrations, ladies night out gatherings, and even retirement parties since they add a splash of youthfulness sometimes needed as co-workers enter a new phase of life.
Every time we look at this page all we think is so, so cute!!!!!

Foxy everything is by far the latest and greatest animal obsession to hit the states. It all started with the Ylvis – The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?) Video parody created by a Norwegian comedy duo. In just under a month they have racked up 100 million YouTube views, have the web’s most-streamed song, and have booked guest appearances on Ellen Degeneres and the Today Show. This video has even spawned this year's best group Halloween costume.
Now that we are all hooked on the absolute adorableness of the fox, we can definitely see fox / woodland theme popping up in holiday cards, birthday parties, baby showers and even as nursery wall art. We are at once surprised at just how much fox “stuff” is available and yet how hard it is to find products that work for party decor without having to DIY.
Fox Theme Invitations & Birth Announcements
Let's start with the invitations. Remember invitations and announcements are like the title of a paper – they set the tone for the entire celebration!

Simple Summer Decor Ideas
A few days ago, we showcased the new chalkboard chic and I mentioned that my always on trend daughter added a highly practical (and well used) chalkboard wall to her summer rental. Yesterday, I happened to be in Los Angeles for a meeting and stopped by her room to check out the wall and drop off a few packages. The chalkboard wall looks as great as I thought it would. What she didn't tell me is that she also added a chandelier decal to the top bunk wall. It was so, so cute!
Jewel Chandelier Black Wall Decal | Chandelier w/Gems Peel & Stick Giant Wall Decal | Jewel Chandelier White Wall Decal | More Chandelier Decals
This decal is on sale for just $8.00 and would look way more elegant on a white wall so the white sticker elements would not show so much!
So if you are looking for a simple way to decorate or redesign any room this summer (even a sticky, icky fraternity dorm room!), wall decals might be the perfect solution! Here are a few of our favorite designs:
Birds Wall Stickers | Butterfly Wall Decals | Just Dots Green/Brown Peel & Stick Wall Decals | Chalkboard Owl
Make your walls take flight with these 3D white Pop Up Birds. Just remove from the sheet and pop out or fold on the creases to create unique birds in assorted shapes and sizes. This Foil Butterfly wall decal is a fun and bright room addition, especially at the sale price of just $15.00. These adorable Baby Blue Dots wall decals are the perfect touch for any baby or little boy's room. Multi-sized dots in shades of blue and brown are the colors “du jour” adding just the right combination to his special room. Apply in minutes and enjoy! And finally, wouldn't it be cute to set up a summer reading corner? Simply apply two Owl Chalkboard Decals to a corner wall near a comfy chair. Now all you need to do is keep a running list of all the books you have read this summer on one owl and the ones you want to read on the other. Use colored chalk!
Oh, please don't go

…Where the Wild Things Are –
A Tribute to Maurice Sendak
“The wild things roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws but Max stepped into his private boat and waved good-bye and sailed back over a year and in and out of weeks and through a day and into the night of his very own room where he found his supper waiting for him and it was still hot.” Where the Wild Things Are
As many of you already know, we are huge fans of Maurice Sendak. For more than forty years, the books Maurice Sendak has written and illustrated have nurtured children and adults alike and have challenged established ideas about what children's literature is and should be. The New York Times has recognized that Sendak's work “has brought a new dimension to the American children's book and has helped to change how people visualize childhood.” Parenting recently described Sendak as “indisputably, the most revolutionary force in children's books.”
To honor Mr. Sendak's memory we think the most appropriate tribute is making sure you have at least one Sendak book in your personal library. Here are a few of our favorites! Just scroll over the book cover for the title and click on the picture for a summary of each book.
