PIP’s Pick – Customize Glass Party Plates

Customize Glass Party Plates

The best party idea we have come across in eons — create you own reusable, customizable glass party plates! These plates will transform your table from drab to fab instantly!

Last year my good friend and colleague, Vicki, came up with the most innovative party idea I have seen in eons but it seemed too difficult for even a fairly advanced DIY maven to tackle without spending hours and hours on each project – reusable, customized glass party plates.  Vicki originally created these plates for our 4th of July Celebration party inspiration photo shoot but I have not been able to easily re-create the idea until today.  This morning I finally found the solution.

Customizable Square Glass Plate

Libbey Crisa Tempo square dinnerware is made of solid glass that is dishwasher and microwave safe. Sold 12 per case.

What you need:

This  8″ square dinner plate from Libbey.  Not only is it perfect for this project, it is the new hot look in dinnerware. Popular for appetizers, tapas, salads, entrees, and desserts. The possibilities are endless!

Dimensions:
Length and Width: 8″ x 8″
Eating Area: 4″ x 4″

The highlighted information is the operative fact here.  The bottom of the plate is exactly four inches square which means it is the perfect size and shape to apply clear custom window clings to the outside bottom of your plates.  These decals are sometimes referred to a clings since they adhere with static to smooth surfaces and are removable & repositionable with no residue.  This means you can use your glass plates over and over customizing them each time to the theme of your party.  Best yet Party Idea {Pros} has finally found  BuildASign, a merchant that carries custom window clings in the right size (4″ x 4″) with easy to personalize good-looking templates. Alternatively, BuildASign allows you to upload one-click pre-loaded clipart and your own text and images.  They make designing your own decal so, so easy!  Simply click on the button that says shop static clings.  Then browse their list of featured clear decals or choose to create your own message.  With just a click we were able to change both the image colors and the background colors to coordinate with our party theme.  And as we played around with the different options we discovered it is also possible to easily create a round sticker for a round plate but you will have to cut out the circle and measure the bottom of your plate to make sure it fits correctly

So checkMothers Day Lobster Dinnerware Removable Decals this out — we customized these 4″ x 4″ decals by clicking on the  “animal clear decals” button and then adding our text and changing the colors. Originally we thought we would create decals and then found the static clings.  Since the static clings would not allow us to change the background color, we simply saved the image we created to our computer and then uploaded the image (feel free to do the same). Wouldn't these make fabulous plates to serve that fabulous lobster & filet Mothers Day dinner from Lobster Anywhere?  Perfect for lunch too – just serve lobster rolls!  Yum.

Gifts for the Frog Lover

Fabulous Gifts for the Frog Lover!

I was just going through my inbox when an email from Plow & Earth caught my attention.  They are offering 15% off gifts for mom with code LSMOMPH.  I know, I know lots of merchants are offering great Mothers Day deals but Plow & Earth is one of the few companies whose products are perfect for my mother-in-law so I started to explore the site. Lo and behold, much to my delight, I found that Plow & Earth has a fabulous selection of delightful frogs engaged in activities from sipping coffee in the garden to canoeing.  Not exactly my mother-in-law's cup of tea but my dear friend Jean, is smiling from above.

This is for you Jean!

PIPs Pick – Fortuny Light Fixtures

Fortuny Light Fixtures

We are obsessed with everything Fortuny!

As you are probably all too aware, I have finally started to tackle some too long delayed home maintenance which quickly morphed into a bit of a home remodel. It took me more than 9 months to choose my wood floors but it took me only about 2 minutes to choose my wall sconce. Admittedly, the fact that my entry hall chandelier is a Fortuny made it so much easier since I wanted the family room and entry way to visually connect to one another but not be exact duplicates.  The entry hall fixture is the classic medium sized Fortuny Suspended Decorated Silk lighting fixture in sage grey.  I picked it up years ago at a random shop in Los Angeles.  I had no idea if Fortuny made other fixtures and absolutely no idea where to find them.  My first stop as usual was, Louie Lighting.  Whenever I need everything or anything related to lighting I check in here first.  Their prices are usually fine but their selection is truly awesome.  And it turns out that Louie Lighting is one of the very few places to find Fortuny.  And I am once again obsessed.  I fell in love with the Venetia Studium – Fortuny G-AF-019 Glass Cesendello on a Rod (it would make a fabulous statement piece) but settled on the Glass Cesendello with Decorative Metal Ring Wall Sconce, still very interesting and definitely much kinder on the budget which was starting to strain by the time I got to picking out lighting fixtures.  I liked the fact that the sconce was both a different shape and made from a different material yet had a signature Fortuny print.  Thank you Matt for my early Mothers Day present –
