Every year we moms put on a smile as we unwrap this year's crop of ever so useful gifts. One year I received a humidifier. Another year grocery store oven mitts to replace the mitts singed with too many culinary mistakes. And I have an entire cabinet full of I ❤️ Mom mugs and other adorable MOM knick knacks. Not to knock the cute MOM gifts but yes, even the best, most devoted mothers do appreciate a break from their mom role. So this year we are compiling a list of gifts moms want for Mother's Day, not gifts we need or gifts that only celebrate motherhood! Yes, we would really like a darling set of pajamas (so we feel pretty when we get into bed after a long day), a fun watch, a statement necklace, a weekend bag (for dreamed about getaways), and would be thrilled if we received gorgeous headphones (to escape the chaos at home, if only for a song or two – call it an enforced time out). Since there has been such an outpouring of delight with our Great Gatsby Roaring 20's inspired Halloween costumes, we are delighted to bring you some fresh roaring 20s party dresses which would be perfect for an elegant Gatsby inspired New Year's Eve Party. Wear Outfits, Not Costumes
Just today we received an email from Shopstyle announcing that outfits rather than costumes are 2015's hottest Halloween trend. We wanted to scream – told you so! Every Halloween we feature real life clothes that can be dressed up for Halloween and then worn again throughout the year.
For example a must own little black dress like the one featured below, and available in sizes xs – 4x, can be paired with black cat bags, headbands, shoes, jewelry and cat face paint. And then after Halloween you can continue to wear the dress and all the accessories, just not all together.
Despite popular misperceptions, it is not only possible to find beautiful, relatively inexpensive wedding dresses, you can also receive them the next day if willing to pay for overnight shipping. All of the looks featured above are vintage inspired white and cream dresses priced from $75.00 – $400.00 and would be appropriate for all but a black tie wedding. Complete your wedding day look with headpieces and veils from House of Brides! Keep it simple and elegant. For shoes, we recommend sticking with the vintage vibe in a neutral heel. For us, the height of the heel matters less than the style. We would stay away from wedges, wood heels, and super casual looks but are not opposed to adding a bit of personality and color if you dare!
Just an FYI – these dresses are not just for brides. All would also be appropriate for any summer special occasion including prom!
