We love Instagram. We check our feed first thing every morning and today we awoke to this festive end of summer party idea courtesy of Tiny Prints. How fun would it be to send off summer with a toasty treat by setting up a stocked s'mores bar in your back yard! We just happen to have a fire pit (or two) so we can't wait to invite friends over for s'more fun. Although we did like these joyful herringbone party invitations (they are no longer available), in the end we actually prefer the more literal s'mores party invitations available on Minted so there is absolutely no confusion about what to expect – no dinner, no cocktails, simply s'mores. We are especially excited that among the Minted invitation offerings is one of their free online invitations (*free thru 12.31.17) Continue Reading →
One Kings Lane, the daily home deal site, recently joined forces with Kitchen Papers to produce these one-of-a-kind chic Autumn paper table setting designs. These designs are inspired by famed New York City restaurateur Danny Meyer, the man behind Gramercy Tavern, Eleven Madison Park, and author of one of our favorite reads, Table Setting
We recommend you combine these stylish-yet-rustic paper placemats, paper napkins, and paper table runners, each adorned with a motif of fresh garden vegetables, to create a stunning Thanksgiving table. The combination will result in the oft sought but hard to achieve sense of sophistication and quality that comes across as effortless.
Although I haven't completely made up my mind, with 50 relatives ringing the doorbell at exactly 1:00 on Thanksgiving Thursday, I am very tempted to go with this design aesthetic. The idea would be to combine the causal elegance of this kraft paper design with my collection of fine china, Fiesta dinnerware and crystal stemware. Not only does this design blend seamlessly into my industrial modern home decor, I think it will make re-setting the tables in between courses so much easier – I can just snatch up the dirty placemats, toss them in the trash and add a fresh mat at each place setting Plus, I could pull the look all together with copper colander centerpieces (filled with fresh seasonal vegetables, and cacti or ivy filler) and chalkboard chic food tags. Since I serve so many different dishes to satisfy a vast array of dietary restrictions, I think it might be helpful to label them all so individuals can choose whether or not to partake. And while I am thinking about it, wouldn't it be great to serve Moscow Mules in copper cups as a festive drink to visually compliment the centerpieces?
I would love to hear what you think – buy now or keep looking? Continue Reading →
As with most mornings, I was awakened by the blaring sounds of the Today Show as my husband worked out on the elliptical. But this morning, when I opened my eyes I saw a lovely display of a handful of Tiny Prints autumn inspired invitations and stationery. I decided to jump on the computer and try to find the products featured. Not as easy a task as one would have anticipated but ultimately, I found them all plus some extras that I just had to share!
Fall is filled with so many excuses to party, even beyond Halloween and Thanksgiving. It is really a shame not to take the time to formally invite family or friends over for a lovely dinner party, an afternoon fiesta filled with football, food & fun, or a best vintage yet party to celebrate the fall harvest. And don't forget to incorporate seasonality into your showers and birthday luncheons, too..
Enjoy the weather. Enjoy the Season. Party Hearty!
