The Giving Tree Theme Party Planning, Ideas & Supplies

Monica texted me today and challenged Party Idea {Pros} to come up with a few ideas for a thoughtful yet playful The Giving Tree theme event the school is hosting for Grandparents Day. I didn’t have much time to pull it all together but I do believe this is a good starting point to give the committee direction and to get their creative juices flowing.

Any of the trees, real or not, will work well on a buffet.  The least expensive way to approach the event is to fill a large clear vase with red apples and then go into the back yard and gather some tree branches to add to the vase or simply use apples at different heights to decorate your table.  Other options include this artificial apple tree priced at just $33.99  as well as living celebration trees  which you can give away as gifts at the end of the night or plant on campus. We always like bonsai trees since they herald good fortune and happiness. We also think this white cardboard DIY wishing tree kit is really cute  and the accessories are available in many colors including blue and yellow.  Whatever you choose, we would recommend picking up a few The Giving Tree (it’s even available in Hebrew!)books and propping them up on the buffet.

Gift choice will vary depending on your budget.  The most economical would be  either the heart shape plantable seeds (grandparent <3) or flower shape plantable seeds.  you could display them in a bucket or hang them from the buffet and/or centerpiece trees.  Simple, thoughtful, cute!  We also like the symbolism behind this miniature watering can filled with plantable seeds.  Personalized plantable magic wishing beans start at just 59 cents each or can be packaged in a cute flower pot or watering can for an additional ~$2.00 each. We also like these chocolate covered pretzel sticks – they remind us of tree branches.

Hope this helps.

Printable Patriotic Games For Your Memorial Day Party

Memorial Day Printable Games

Printable Patriotic Games For Your Memorial Day Party

Don’t forget to print out a few games for your Memorial Day Celebration Parties.  They are not very expensive so even if you don’t end up using them this time, you will have unlimited printouts for 90 days which takes you way past the 4th of July.

We love to have these games on hand just in case … just in case it rains, just in case the little kids (or the big kids) get antsy, just in case your party extends well into the evening after the sun goes down and the lawn games get put away.  Printable games are also a perfect evening activity when camping since they are light weight and easy to transport.  Consider printing on recycled paper. And if you are looking for classroom activities for a Memorial Day school party, these are both educational and fun.

We tried to capture different vibes in our featured dresses.  If the sight of this orange-and-lemon prom dress makes your heart want to explode with joy, just imagine how you’ll feel once you’re wearing it! Dream of your tulle-touched twirls spinning its splashing eyelet print to catch the eye of everyone around you. Pair it with a citron pendant dangling above the strapless neckline and padded bust of this lined frock, as well as chestnut-colored heels below it, and your fashion future is looking bold and bright!

Your personality isn’t the only thing about you that sparkles when you’re wearing this one-shouldered Starlight Hearted  prom dress! Copper and ivory sequins twinkle over the bodice and up along the hem of this look’s stormy-grey mesh overlay, mimicking the blanket of stars that spreads above your Under the Midnight Sun Prom Party Theme. With its ruched details hugging your waist, a pair of plum pumps at your feet, and a dash of crystals bedecking your ears, you’ll feel as luminous as a sky filled with constellations!

We’ve picked this one especially for seniors who want to stand out in a long dress.  We call it simple glam.  This navy Take in a Show Prom Dress will hang invitingly on the back of your bedroom door. Its pewter bead-and-sequined front gives it the  formal factor that kicks it up to prom worthy! Slight boning at its bust gives its top a structured shape above its gathered floor length skirt. You pair it with silver, studded wedges, an asymmetric capelet, and a hard case clutch after you use its adjustable spaghetti straps and invisible side zipper to dress yourself in its exquisite design.

This stylish  ecru  floral-paisley embroidered Frill Seeking Prom Dress will  carry you away into an evening of thrills! An adventurous, dressy option, this frock’s scintillatingly scalloped hemline and supportive side-boning and padded bust are only part of what makes this piece so sensational. With black tights beneath its full lining, an onyx statement necklace above its strapless neckline, and suede Mary Janes, this number is about to fill everyone’s evening with beauty!

Best Holiday Party Theme – Host{ess} a Sno Ball Party!

Best Holiday Party Theme of 2012 - Host{ess} a Sno Ball Party!

Photo courtesy of  Homemade Hostess Sno Balls

The 2012 holiday season is definitely the year to host{ess} a pink snowball holiday party.  With Hostess declaring bankruptcy this week the end of an era has arrived.  If you hurry you may still be able to pick up a few packs of classic Hostess Sno Balls – the long popular chocolate creme filled cakes covered in marshmallow and then covered in coconut flakes.  Better yet, start a new holiday tradition – throw a Pink Snowball baking party! This theme would also work great as an adorable winter bridal or baby shower, a great sorority holiday party, teacher appreciation holiday luncheon, or a sweet sixteen or Quinceanera party!

We can’t believe after lots, and lots of searching we finally found invitations, stamps, centerpieces (just add pink or white tightly packed carnations arranged to resemble a snowball or better yet top with an edible sno ball!), and matching aprons that all coordinate  perfectly with this party theme.  We even found a recipe for homemade hostess sno balls.

Even though coconut is my least favorite food of all time, I must admit this has to be the best holiday party theme of 2012.
