With Game of Thrones set to resume its Sunday evening time slot on July 16, 2017, so will our weekly Game of Thrones viewing parties. However, this year we will be prepared with recipes inspired by Unofficial Game of Thrones Cookbook. From Direwolf Ale to Auroch Stew we will certainly eat well and most probably, way too much. Creating a gender reveal party post has been on the top of our “to do” list for ages. Since we still have not gotten around to creating our own, we thought we would at least share some ideas from one of our “go to” party suppliers, Windy City Novelties. And as usual, we could not help ourselves and ended up editing their copy and even throwing in a few (ok, more than a few) ideas of our own.
What are Gender Reveal Parties?
Gender reveal parties have become quite popular over the past few years. Oftentimes, gender reveal parties are held in the place of a baby shower, and both men and women are invited to the event. However, there are couples that will hold both a gender reveal party and a baby shower. At the gender reveal party, the guests, and sometimes the parents themselves, will find out the sex of their unborn child. The purpose of the party is to share the news and celebrate with close friends and family.
Classic Mint Julep Recipe to Serve at Your Kentucky Derby Party
A few years back we turned on the Today Show to see the smiling face of Al Roker standing at Churchill Downs learning how to make a classic mint julep from Fred Noe, a seventh-generation distiller for Jim Beam. We think this might still be the best Mint Julep Recipe out there and we must admit, since then, we have spent many, many hours testing lots of other recipes. 🙂
.Here is the Mint Julep Recipe as seen on the Today Show:
- 1 part simple syrup
- 2 parts Bourbon
- Add crushed ice
- The most important part is the mint – first spank the mint and then add it to the mint julep cups
- Top your mint julep off with more crushed ice
- Hint (not on the video): An extra-nice touch is to trim straws so they just slightly stick out of the cup. Hence, when guests sip from the short straws, their noses will be close to the refreshing mint garnish.
We are obsessed with the unicorn theme birthday party and baby shower inspiration we found over at Riding Corner. We too love the glittery unicorn cake toppers. But we also love the unicorn party invitations, and decorations. And we even like all the party activities they gathered together. All we can say is great job. And thank you so much for letting us share your ideas!
