I Came I Saw I Conquered
What is the Ides of March?

Julius Caesar’s bloody assassination on March 15, 44 B.C., forever marked March 15, or the Ides of March, as a day of infamy. It has fascinated scholars and writers ever since. For ancient Romans living before that event, however, an ides was merely one of several common calendar terms used to mark monthly lunar events. The ides simply marked the appearance of the full moon.
But the Ides of March assumed a whole new identity after the events of 44 B.C. The phrase came to represent a specific day of abrupt change that set off a ripple of repercussions throughout Roman society and beyond. Click here for the rest of the article
Today, thanks to the William Shakespeare‘s play Julius Caesar, the soothsayer’s warning to Julius Caesar, “Beware the Ides of March,” has forever imbued that date with a sense of foreboding. But here at Party Idea Pros we say the ides of March is just another excuse to party, especially for those interested in ancient Roman history, Shakespeare, or anything toga. Pick and chose from a wide range of ideas. This theme can go as elegant or as bawdy as you desire.

School Roses >> Unfortunately, we cannot link directly to the college roses but all you need to do is click “Brands” and you will find FTD College Roses 2nd in the drop down menu.
Whether you are an entering college freshman or a university alum, FTD offers an extraordinary selection of rainbow roses that will help you celebrate your school colors and your school spirit. Although they do not yet have vases that represent every university FTD has indicated that it is working hard to forge relationships with more and more colleges across the county.
If you are a current student (or are related to one) these fabulous bi-color rose bouquets can both be given and received for such special occasions as birthdays and graduation but they also make festive additions to homecoming events, football games, Greek parties and “deliveries”, and best yet, to celebrate the many accomplishments and milestones reached throughout your life.
So next time your are looking for that little something special to represent your college colors and college spirit – think college roses!
Party Fun for New Years Eve (or Any Night)!
Up until now we have not featured either karaoke or a lip-sync duel as a “go to” party activity mostly because I really, really do not like to perform. In fact, I think my husband’s biggest fear is traveling to Korea on business and being dragged into a Karaoke club.
Having said all that, we love this Jimmy Fallon lip-sync duel and have to say, dueling karaoke does look like great fun. I can now definitely see this as a New Years Eve or late night party activity as good as, or maybe even better than, charades. Adding a lip-sync duel to your list of party games will appeal to guests of all ages! Choose your playlist based on your guest list. For example, if you are having lots of children, think about including some songs from Frozen. If your party is for adults only, it might be fine to include songs with lyrics that may not be as appropriate if children were present.
What you need:
- Memorex MKS-SS2 SingStand 2 Home Karaoke System or any singing machine or karaoke machine with a microphone. (We just checked and you can still get this delivered to your front door before your New Year’s Eve celebration begins!)
- A diverse playlist
- A great group of guests wanting and willing to party – in other words well versed in party etiquette!
