Best Holiday Party Theme – Host{ess} a Sno Ball Party!

Best Holiday Party Theme of 2012 - Host{ess} a Sno Ball Party!

The 2012 holiday season is definitely the year to host{ess} a pink snowball holiday party.  With Hostess declaring bankruptcy this week the end of an era has arrived.  If you hurry you may still be able to pick up a few packs of classic Hostess Sno Balls – the long popular chocolate creme filled cakes covered in marshmallow and then covered in coconut flakes.  Better yet, start a new holiday tradition – throw a Pink Snowball baking party! This theme would also work great as an adorable winter bridal or baby shower, a great sorority holiday party, teacher appreciation holiday luncheon, or a sweet sixteen or Quinceanera party!

We can't believe after lots, and lots of searching we finally found invitations, stamps, centerpieces (just add pink or white tightly packed carnations arranged to resemble a snowball or better yet top with an edible sno ball!), and matching aprons that all coordinate  perfectly with this party theme.  We even found a recipe for homemade hostess sno balls.

Even though coconut is my least favorite food of all time, I must admit this has to be the best holiday party theme of 2012.

Top Ten Holiday Cards

The next few weeks might as well be officially dubbed “Buy Your Christmas Cards Week.”  All of us dawdlers will realize the item “order cards” on our “to do” list must be moved to the top if we want to take delivery and get our cards mailed before the holidays – especially if we are planning to send out any Hanukkah cards (Hanukkah starts early this year – December  9th).

Our biggest problem is choosing which holiday card to send.  We like them all (or at least many of the available cards).  Sometimes we find it helpful to do what we call a “taste check”.  In other words, we would love to know whether others are gravitating to the same card or style of card that we are considering.

So we have put together a list of Tiny Prints Top Ten Best Sellers.  First thing we can't help but notice is that all 10 are photo cards.  From our own personal experience, these are the cards we love to receive.  In fact, I keep each and every photo card I receive.  I love looking back during the holidays, reminiscing and oohing and aahing about how cute the kids are and how much they have grown over the years.

Where the Wild Things Are –

A Tribute to Maurice Sendak

(1928-2012)

“The wild things roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws but Max stepped into his private boat and waved good-bye and sailed back over a year and in and out of weeks and through a day and into the night of his very own room where he found his supper waiting for him and it was still hot.”  Where the Wild Things Are

As many of you already know, we are huge fans of Maurice Sendak.  For more than forty years, the books Maurice Sendak has written and illustrated have nurtured children and adults alike and have challenged established ideas about what children's literature is and should be. The New York Times has recognized that Sendak's work “has brought a new dimension to the American children's book and has helped to change how people visualize childhood.” Parenting recently described Sendak as “indisputably, the most revolutionary force in children's books.”

To honor Mr. Sendak's memory we think the most appropriate tribute is making sure you have at least one Sendak book in your personal library.  Here are a few of our favorites!  Just scroll over the book cover for the title and click on the picture for a summary of each book.
