This party can take on quite a few different looks yet work. One option is to create a look similar to that in the first row of photos from the BBJ Linens site. They arer perfect for an elegant or glitzy Hollywood theme: use all three linen styles — black metallic shag, silver hollywood stars, and silver metallic shag. Be sure to click through the additional event photos to see close up pictures of each look. If you prefer gold and black to match the gold oscar centerpiece just substitute the gold hollywood stars linen for the silver one and use the gold metallic shag rather than the silver one. Splurge for the chair covers!

If you want to save some money, use a classic solid linen or most venues will supply complimentary white or cream linens. Either will work — personally, I would match your cloth color but you might also consider red, white or pink napkins. Likewise, if you are hosting a romance theme party at your house just stick with white, red, pink, or black linens. Place mats can also work, and to tell you the truth, individual sheets of scrap booking paper work great and are adorable. Choose any black, gold or sivler solid colored paper with some sparkle or shine or choose a print. If you are feeling creative and have lots of time, you can even create a layout highlighting your Valentine. If you hare having a larger party, use your place mats as place cards by creating a page for each of your guests. Laminate the page and tie with personalized ribbon for a complete favor anyone can enjoy.

Just a note on chair covers: chair covers may not be necessary if the chairs supplied are fairly neutral and in ok condition. In fact, I tend to not use chair covers at any of my personal parties. Having said that, if your budget permits, the overall look of certain rooms is enhanced if chair pads are used. Choose one of your accent colors.

If you are having a fairly large party, don’t forget to include your place card table, your gift table, buffet tables, and any ceremonial tables when determining your linen count. Also, if you chose to use more ornate linens, do not use them for the cocktail hour; they will have a greater impact as your guests enter the dining room.
